In Loving Memory of Fred N Saal, 84, a devout Catholic, peacefully passed from this world to the Father on July 14, 2025.

June 26, 1941 – July 14, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father. While our hearts are heavy with grief, we find solace in honoring a life well lived, filled with love, service and purpose.

Fred was born in Akron Ohio, the son of Sylvan Saal and Mildred (Neff) Saal. He was a life long member of St Joseph Parish in Randolph. He grew up in Suffield working hard on the family farm Walnut Drive Gardens. Fred attended St. Joseph's elementary school followed by Hoban High School. He then served our country's Airforce from 1960-1963 in communications. In 1965, he spent a year in the seminary discerning the priesthood. Fred began his professional career as an electrician and lineman for Ohio Edison and retired after 31 years. Along with the church and military, Edison is where he forged many lifelong friendships and a career of which he was very proud. He was known for his dedication and hard work, immensely respected by everyone.

Fred was a loving husband to Ruth Saal (Kapper) for 33 years, a dedicated son-in-law to Naomi Kapper and a devoted, loving father to five children, Dawn, Brenda, Valerie, Heather and Adam. Throughout his life, Fred was a source of unwavering support for his family. He treasured his role as a provider, protector, and mentor. His love, guidance, and support were the foundation that shaped their lives.

In his free time, Fred found joy in helping others. He had a deep passion for service, visiting those in need and providing them with support and companionship. He was always reaching out to family and friends, creating memories that will be cherished forever. After his military service he continued to serve as an active member in the Catholic War Vets, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Knights of Columbus. He dedicated his time joyfully in many capacities including the RSA Food Shelf and as an electrician at the Portage County Randolph Fair.

Fred is survived by his mother-in-law, Naomi Kapper; younger brother, Bill and his wife, Patty Saal; daughter, Dawn (Saal) Lofland and husband, Steve, grandson, Logan and wife, Shayna (Misukonis) Lofland, great grand-daughter, Naomi, grand-daughter, Danielle Lofland; daughter, Brenda Saal and fiancé, Scott Jankowski, grandson, Zack; daughter, Valerie (Saal) Rodenbucher and husband Dave, five grandchildren, Raymond, Samuel, Angelica, Christian and Rose; daughter, Heather (Saal) Clark and husband, Trevor, two grandchildren, Wilson and Lincoln; and his son, Adam Saal; nieces Michelle and Tammy, nephews Chris and Tim. All of whom he loved dearly. He is also remembered fondly by his extended family and a wide circle of friends, all of whom were touched by his warmth and kindness.

Friends will be received on Sunday, July 20th at Donovan Funeral Home in Mogadore Ohio from 1-4 pm.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St.  Joseph's Church in Randolph on Monday July 21st at 11 am with a viewing preceded at 10 am.  Luncheon to follow the graveside service at St. Joseph K of C Hall.

As we bid farewell to our beloved father, we find solace in the cherished memories we shared and the profound impact he had on our lives. His legacy of love, kindness, and service will live on in our hearts forever.
