French Taylor

French Taylor, 101, of Cuyahoga Falls, passed away Saturday August 27, 2022.

Born in Bulltown, West Virginia (Braxton County) and spent most of his life in the Akron area.

He was in the Marines during World War II and then farmed and moved to Akron and opened his own construction company. He enjoyed golf and socializing with his McDonald's buddies.  He was a long-time member of the Community Church in Tallmadge, Ohio.

French was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie, and his parents, William and Rosa Taylor and five brothers and four sisters; son in law, Kenneth Mathie.

He is survived by his daughter, Tawanna Mathie; granddaughter, Lynee LaCroix; and great grandchildren, Aria and Montgomery LaCroix.

French is also survived by his longtime partner of 31 years, Mary Cross; her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. Tallmadge, OH (on the Historic Tallmadge Circle) and 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Thursday.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, September 1, 2022, at the funeral home with Rev. Sheila Hershberger officiating.

Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, 1025 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio, 44312.
