Gayle Shum

October 12, 1941 — June 29, 2017

Gayle Shum, 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving husband and family on June 29, 2017.

Born in Omaha, Nebraska, she has lived in the Kent area since 2002.

Gayle was a homemaker and an active member of Tallmadge United Methodist Church. She was a volunteer at Hale Farm and Village and a hospital in Hendersonville, TN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Bernice Toscano; grandparents, Ben and Verle Augustine.

Gayle is survived by her husband, James Shum; daughter, Julie (Jeffrey) Coffee of Kent; son, Gary Shum of Atlanta; grandchildren, Josie, Jenny; aunt and uncle, Jeri and Ted Swanson of Omaha; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. Monday, July 3, 2017 at the Tallmadge United Methodist Church, 207 N. Munroe Rd. , Tallmadge.

Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. at the church with Rev. Barry French officiating.

Interment will be at Standing Rock Cemetery.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the nurses in the ICU at Western Reserve Hospital for their care and love for Gayle.
