George William Campbell

September 29, 1938 — November 25, 2025

Stow

George W. Campbell, 87, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 25, 2025 surrounded by family and friends.  He was born and raised in Haddonfield, NJ and Brookandville, Md.  He lived the last 48 years in Tallmadge and most recently Stow.

George was a member of Our Lady of Victory Parish, Tallmadge and also attended Holy Family Church in Stow

Graduating from Hobart College, Geneva NY in 1961, he began his 34-year career with Goodyear Tire retiring in 1995 as Director of Human Resources, North America Tire Division.  Upon retirement, he owned multiple Handyman Connection franchisees and later in life continued to work at the Tallmadge Rec Center for 12 years.

George was an avid weekend golfer at Prestwick Country Club, playing 18 holes on Saturday and 18 on Sunday with his friends, Rex, Ed and Don and another 18 holes later each day with Judy.  He was a member of the Tallmadge Golf League that played at Maple Crest and later Sunny Hills. Over the years he participated in several ProAm tournaments, but perhaps his favorite courses would be Pinehurst Golf Course, NC and St Andrew's in Scotland.

In addition to golfing he was 'The Voice' at Rossiaky Stadium for the Blue Devil football team and also at 'The Hole' during Little League tournament times.

His greatest accomplishment though was loving and devoting his time to his family.  First by coaching Scott and Sandi throughout their Little League years and then supporting and advising them as they pursued their careers.  The 'Pop Pop' time spent with his grandson Jack and granddaughter Sydney was endless.  From taking care of them as infants to watching every school and sporting event to listening to their future plans now as adults.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry "Harry" Campbell and Sara (James) Ratcliffe and his youngest brother, Bruce.

George is survived by his wife of 58 years, Judith; son, Scott (Michele) Campbell; daughter, Sandi (Domenic) Costa; grandson Jack and granddaughter Sydney Costa; brothers, Robert (Ann) Campbell, Nicholas (Kathy) Ratcliffe; sister-in-law Patricia Blain nieces Laura, Nancy and Kathy and nephews Jim, Jimmy and Chris and his special friend Lisa Siesal.
