George W. Mortimer, 91, passed away May 7, 2017.
Born in Cortland, Ohio, on June 15, 1925, he had lived his entire life in Northeastern, Ohio and was currently living in Munroe Falls. He proudly served in the U.S. Marines in World War II. He retired after 55 years from Reider Manufacturing as a partner and wood shop supervisor. After retirement he served as an usher for the Akron Aeros for 11 years. George was an avid baseball fan. He and his wife Marjorie square danced for over 40 years and traveled extensively. George enjoyed woodworking, gardening and puzzles. He was a member of Pilgrim United Church of Christ in Cuyahoga Falls and was a member of Masonic Blue Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Ruth; brothers, Richard and Frank, Jr.; and sister, Marjorie May.
George is survived by his wife, Marjorie; son, James (Pauline) of Scottsdale, AZ; daughter, Kathleen (Patrick) Michl of Aurora, CO; grandchildren, Alison Michl, Michael and Joseph Sanson; brother, Robert Mortimer of Butler, OH; sister, Evelyn Kremer of Akron and numerous nieces and nephews.
We would like to express our gratitude to the staff and residents of Mulberry Gardens Assisted Living residence for their love and compassion.
A Memorial Service will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2017 Pilgrim United Church of Christ, 130 Broad Blvd., Cuyahoga Falls, OH with Rev. Kirk Bruce officiating. Flowers should be sent to the church.
Interment will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
