Gerald Dallesandro

July 16, 1931 — January 10, 2024

Cuyahoga Falls

Gerald "Jerry" Dallesandro, 92, died on January 10th, 2024, of natural causes.

Jerry was born and raised in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church.  He shared his passion for music as a dedicated music teacher for Akron Public Schools, leaving an indelible mark on countless students.

One notable accomplishment was in 1970 when he personally wrote letters to steel drum makers in Trinidad to commission the creation of a set of drums for his student-bands the Calypso Cutups and the Western Stars.

Outside of the school, Jerry played the piano at local Akron restaurants and clubs to the delight of many.  He loved to cook Italian food - his pizza was especially delicious.

Jerry was active in his community in Ohio and in Florida, where he and his wife Rita spent many winters with their Yorkie, Kelsey.  He was a beloved husband, brother, uncle, father, and friend to all.

Jerry's family would like to extend a special thank you to Gentiva Hospice and the staff of Danbury for making Jerry and Rita feel at home there for so many years.

He is preceded in death by his brothers, Albert Finamore and Ed Dallesandro; ex-wife, Fawn Dallesandro; sister-in-law, Rosie Brett; and his cherished wife, Rita Brett.

Jerry is survived by his daughter, Velvet Dawn, and her wife, Lara Gertzen, of Los Angeles; sister-in-law, Betty Finamore, of Villa Park, California; and many loving nieces and nephews.

No services will be held.
