Gerald James Schweitzer (June 27, 1943 – February 14, 2018), was a beloved and loving husband, father, grandpa, uncle and friend.
If you were to have asked Jerry, he would have given you different dates than the ones listed here. For him, his life began when he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and his life had no end as he is eternally rejoicing in heaven. He had no fear of death as he looked ahead to heaven where Jesus "will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain." (Rev.21:4) And now Jesus has said, "Welcome home, good and faithful servant."
The twinkle in his eye, his bright smile and warm embrace, his listening ear and thoughtful wisdom will all be deeply missed. He touched many lives with his heart for service through counseling and Christian ministry.
Jerry is survived by his devoted wife, Frannie, his three children and his four step-children, whom he loved as his own: Jill (Dave), Jim (Jennifer), Jon (April) and their mother, Becky and step-father, Dick; Catherine (Ed), Polly (Roger), Terry (Sara) and Kristen (Tim). He was close to his three brothers: Tom, Rich (Sandy), and Mark (Cheryl). He was adored by his 24 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (on the Historic Tallmadge Circle) where Pastor Kevin Baker will preside. Family will receive friends following the service.
The family would appreciate donations to Compassion International (www.compassion.com). Jerry and Frannie sponsored children for more than 25 years, and it was very meaningful to them.
