Stow

Gerry Lumenello, age 89, of Akron, Ohio, formerly of Boise, ID, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on July 30, 2025.

Born January 16, 1936, in Seattle, WA, Gerry was Song Leader and Homecoming Queen at South Kitsap High School in Port Orchard, WA.  In 1958, she moved to Boston where she started her career as a flight attendant for American Airlines. A few years later in San Francisco, she met her stow away husband Dick. They married In 1964.

Gerry and Dick moved to Akron in 1967, raising 2 daughters among cherished neighborhood friends on Breezewood Drive and playing golf with the "Honey Bunchers" at Fairlawn Country Club. Gerry was a member of WITAN and the Akron City Hospital Women's Board.  She enjoyed volunteering at the annual Rummage Sale, and the hospital gift shop, choosing the jewelry selection. She cheered on her girls at Firestone High swimming and tennis events.

Dick and Gerry moved to Boise, ID in 1991, where they continued their love of golf and friendships at Crane Creek in Boise. Gerry volunteered with the Assistance League of Boise and the Beaux Arts Societe. They enjoyed spending winters playing golf in Palm Desert, CA. In 2020, Dick and Gerry moved back to Ohio to be close to their girls and grandchildren.

Gerry was preceded in death by her husband Dick in 2021, and her parents Burton and Louise Kreidler. She was a wonderful mother to Lesley Bowers (Mark) and Laura Getch (Steve); a loving GiGi to grandchildren Marissa and Will Bowers and Finley and Griffin Getch; and big sister to Brad (Brigitte) Kreidler of Germany and Rick (Anne Marie) Kreidler of Seattle, and sister-in-law to Betty Ann Baker of Cabot, VT.

We are grateful to her Rummikub playing friends and the staff at Vitalia Senior Residences in Stow, her home for the past 2.5 years, and to the nursing staff and volunteers at Cleveland Clinic Hospice, Ridgewood Rd.
