Giuseppina "Pina" Aiello

Akron—Giuseppina "Pina" Aiello, 78, passed away on May 15, 2014.

She was the beloved sister of Elia Aiello, who so lovingly cared for her until her death, and Mario Aiello (Mirella), both of Akron and she is preceded in death by her sister Antonetta Militano (Cantanzaro, Italy).  She was the devoted Aunt to Cindy Aiello (Akron) and Teresa, Rosalba and Lello Militano (Cantanzaro, Italy) and the beloved cousin of Pino and Dora Aiello and Mimo and Bettina Aiello both of Bayonne, NJ and Antonietta Bonasera (Rome, Italy).

Pina was born on March 26, 1936, in Centrache, Italy.  In 1968, she immigrated to Akron, Ohio, where she worked as a dental technician at United Dental Laboratories until her retirement.  A devoted member of St. Anthony Church, Pina and Elia sat together in the same pew every Sunday until her illness made it impossible to attend mass.  Pina was a caring, generous woman, who extended a helping hand to anyone in need.  She was an avid baker and gardener who loved to crochet.  Pina had incredible attention to detail.  In fact, for many years at Christmas, Pina recreated an intricate, miniature village and nativity scene with countless houses, animals, people and lights for all of her family and friends to enjoy.

Pina leaves behind many good friends, who will miss her loving smile, gentle nature and classic elegance.

The family extends its heartfelt appreciation to its extended family, friends, family physician, Dr. John DiSabato and Hospice of Summa.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am Monday at St. Anthony Church, 83 Mosser Pl, Akron with Father Burba officiating.  Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.  Visitation will be 2pm- 6pm Sunday at Hennessy Funeral Home (formerly Rossi), 552 North Main Street, Akron.
