Gloria (Pearson) Donges

Gloria Jeanne Donges, 89, passed away December 23, 2021. She was born and grew up in Akron before moving to Tallmadge while spending winters in Naples, Florida for nearly 30 years.

Gloria was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church. She worked in banking for many years prior to becoming a stay-at-home mom.  At the age of 52, she began work for the Ninth District Court of Appeals as a Court Secretary from which she retired after ten years of service.  Gloria was active in the Girl Scouts, Akron Civic Theater Women's Guild and the East High School 60+ Reunion Committee.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon (Skip); parents, Oscar and Alys Pearson; siblings, Betty Genda, Alys Pearson, Terrence Pearson, Donald Stein, and Oscar Pearson.

Gloria is survived by her children: Julie (Mike) Oliver, Dave (Trudy) Donges, Steve (Melissa) Donges; grandchildren: MO (Erin) Oliver, Angella (Mike) Hallett, Alex (Katie Jackson) Donges, Megan (Joshua) Brown, Abby (Garrett) Cantwell, Noah Donges and Makaleigh Donges; great grandchildren: Dylan, Grace, Ava, Julia (due in February), as well as another on the way; Aunt Patty Donges, Uncle George Donges; special cousins: Diane (Peggy) Downer, Joanne (Tim) Burger, and Bob (Becky) Donges as well as many nieces, nephews and friends including her fellow YaYa sisters, Carol Allio and Carol Serene.

Visitation will be 4 until 6 p.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (On the Historic Tallmadge Circle). Masks and social distancing will be mandatory due to a number of family conditions which require extreme caution.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Our Lady of Victory Church, 73 North Ave., Tallmadge with Rev. Michael Matusz officiating. The Funeral Mass will be livestreamed on Our Lady of Victory's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/ourladyofvictorychurchtallmadge/.  The family will require masks for those attending the Mass in Church.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Private (family only) interment will be at Northlawn Memorial Gardens.
