Gus began his great adventure when he was adopted from a shelter in South Carolina in August 2011, at approximately 9 months of age. Less than a year later, in June 2012, he embarked on an international journey and moved to Switzerland. There, Gus became a worldly dog—learning the word for “treat” in several different languages and experiencing many new adventures. He swam for the very first time in the Rhein River, proving that even a dog who wasn’t always enthusiastic about travel could make the most of a new place.

In 2015, Gus moved back to his human’s native Ohio, where he settled into a life surrounded by people who loved him. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandparents, family, friends, and neighbors, collecting affection wherever he went.

Gus loved playing frisbee and could often be found joyfully chasing after one. Sadly, a career-ending injury sidelined him in 2021, bringing his frisbee-playing days to an end—but never diminishing his playful spirit.

His humans hope that wherever Gus is now—in heaven, somewhere in the cosmos, or whatever beautiful place good dogs go when they die—he is once again young and fast, chasing a frisbee with endless energy, surrounded by sunshine, and always knowing that he is deeply loved.
