Harvey R. Barnett,Jr.

Harvey R. Barnett, Jr., 90, passed away August 17, 2026. Born in Zanesville, he lived most of his life in the Akron and Kent area.

After graduating from Akron North High School, Harvey served in the U.S. Army and retired from Denman Tire. He was a member of the Hope Community Church, German American Club and AARP. He loved to travel. Harvey was a devoted and much-loved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was the founder of the North Akron Boys Baseball League and enjoyed coaching for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Sr. and Mildred Barnett; grandson, Joshua Potts; son-in-law, Tim Walter; sister, Marilyn Steele; niece, Debbie Steele; sister-in-law, Ronnie Barnett.

Harvey is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Rita; daughters, Heidi Walter, Jill Brooks, Jennifer Keener; son, Harvey III (Carol Ann) Barnett; grandchildren. Emily Ann, Drew, Benjamin, Malin, Kyle (Annie), Jonathan, Rachel, Lawrence, Luke (Allen); brother, Jack Barnett; stepsons, Oliver, Jens and their families; and many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be 1:00 until 3:00 p.m., Sunday, August 23, 2026 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (On the Historic Tallmadge Circle).

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 24, 2026 at Hope Community Church, 3033 Middleton Road, Hudson with Pastor Doug Coleman officiating.

Interment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
