Herbert (Herb) Freyman, 84, of Tallmadge, beloved husband and father, passed away with peace and grace on March 14, 2015 after a courageous battle with a long illness. He was surrounded by his family, especially his dear and deeply loved wife of almost 60 years Jean (Digby) Freyman. He will be sorely missed....
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Leon and Orpha (Robey) Freyman, brother Robert, sister Ruth (Freyman) McDonald.
He attended West High school graduating 1949 then enlisted in the US Army. Herb served from 1949-52 with the 1st Infantry Division stationed in Germany. After his return home (with an assortment of steins and cuckoo clocks!), he lived his entire life in the Akron area -- mostly in Tallmadge, where he literally built his home for his bride and raised his family. He was an electrician and foreman who believed so strongly in a job well done that he put his signature on hidden studs. Herb was a train enthusiast and made it a life passion to ride as many trains as he could. He and Jean were avid travelers and especially loved seeing the countryside from their motor home. He loved gardening, piddling in his back garage and was an all round craftsman. He deeply loved his wife, children and grandchildren.
Herb will be missed by his sister, Nancy (Cliff) Wilson, brother-in-law, Bernard McDonald, son Thomas Freyman, daughters Darlene (Rick) Steed, Kathy (David) Morris, and Karen Freyman, and his grandchildren Henry Schopper, Herbert (Tracey) Schopper, Caitlin Morris and Daniel (Taylor) Morris, along with nieces and nephews.
Herb was a proud member of IBEW 306, and a long time member of First Congregational Church of Tallmadge.
