Irene E. Blatt

Irene E Blatt, 92, passed away on September 18, 2021.

Born in Akron, Ohio, Irene lived in Tallmadge since 1951.  She was a graduate of Palmyra High School class of 1947 where she was valedictorian of her class.

Irene was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church for over 60 years.  During that time she was an active member in the church's catechism program.  She also volunteered her time on various church committees including funeral dinners and the church bazaar.  She enjoyed socializing with her many friends from the church.  She participated in the Tallmadge City School's PTA where she served as President.  Irene was also an active member of the Tallmadge Primetimers.  During many Primetimers meetings she was in charge of taking attendance that let her talk and socialize with members.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence of 62 years; sons William J and Daniel J Blatt and grandson Danny Blatt.

She is survived by her sons, Lawrence E (Debra) Blatt of Washington State, Thomas E Blatt, Michael J (Janice) Blatt, Richard P (Margie) Blatt, Kevin L (Mary Ann) Blatt and Steven M (Kim) Blatt; and daughter-in-law Tami Blatt all of Tallmadge.  She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren who she loved spending time with, being part of their lives and watching them grow.

Being a mom of 8 boys kept Irene busy taking care of the house, cooking and keeping us in line.  Whenever we would tell anyone that we came from a family of 8 boys (and no sisters), the response was always "your mom must be a saint" and they were right.

Per Irene's wishes there will be no calling hours.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Our Lady of Victory Church, 73 North Ave., Tallmadge with Father Michael Matusz officiating.

The Funeral Mass will be livestreamed on Our Lady of Victory's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/ourladyofvictorychurchtallmadge/.  You are kindly asked to wear a mask when in close proximity to others in Church until further notice.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Interment will be at Tallmadge Cemetery.
