Jack Boesiger

August 29, 1928 — June 2, 2025

Boulder City, Nevada

Jack Boesiger, 96, passed away on June 2, 2025 at the Southern Nevada State Veterans home in Boulder City, Nevada. He was born on August 29, 1928 at his home in Akron Ohio to Fred and Anna Stempfler-Boesiger.

After graduating from Hower Trade School, Jack proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for 2 years just after WWII, spending some time serving in China. After serving, he returned to Akron to work with Ohio Edison on a line crew as a trouble shooter and joined the USMC reserves. He married Dolores Granger on July 9, 1949 at the Riverside Church of Christ in Akron, Ohio and first settled in Tallmadge, Ohio where he built their first home. He  was called back to service in the Korean War 1950. He served another 2 years and was discharged as a staff sergeant. They raised 2 sons, Jack and James. He worked with family and friends to build another home in Mogadore, Ohio where they lived until his retirement.

Jack loved the outdoors and enjoyed many activities during his lifetime. He was an accomplished snow skier in the winter and loved boating–waterskiing in the summertime at the family cottage in Lake Milton Ohio. Jack also enjoyed fishing, canoeing, hiking and backpacking. After retirement they divided their time between their cottage in Lake Milton and a home in Arizona. Jack and Dolores enjoyed many years traveling the country in their RV visiting countless national parks. They shared 73 years together.

Jack loved life and people, and he would entertain everyone by wiggling his ears and playing "Old Susanna" on his harmonica. He always had a story to tell or a joke to make people laugh.

Jack loved being outside and fed his birds on a daily basis. We would usually find him tinkering in his workshop sitting on the porch or out back on the patio in his favorite chair listening to the birds and enjoying visits from neighbors, family and friends.

Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Granger Boesiger who passed away February 22, 2023 and his oldest son, Jack, who passed away December 2, 2009. He had two brothers, Fred Boesiger, killed in action in Korea in 1951, and a younger brother, William (Billy) who died in 2009.

He is survived by his son, James Boesiger (wife Maria) currently living in Las Vegas, Nevada and two grandchildren, Genae Boesiger Greene (Sean), of Cape Coral Florida, and Shawn Boesiger who currently resides in Arkansas. He also leaves great granddaughter, Madison of Cape Coral and two nieces, Renee Hurd and Yvonne Jones.

We would like to thank Home Instead and their caretakers. Jack developed a close relationship with the Home Instead caretakers, Mindy, Amber, Pat and Debbie. We also appreciate the outpouring of support from Ned, Susan, and Kenny and his family who were wonderful neighbors to Jack and his wife Dolores over the years.

His burial service and interment will be held at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio at 1:45 PM on July 7, 2025.
