Jack E. Gang

October 3, 1925 — September 15, 2015

Jack Gang, 89, passed away September 15, 2015, 18 days shy of his 90th birthday.

Jack was born in and had lived his entire life in Akron, Ohio. He served in the US Army Air Corps.

He was co-owner and president of Ben Gang Lathing and Plastering Inc. the business his father started. Jack and his brother Boyd continued to operate the business many years until it was turned over to Jacks' oldest son.

His Church was very important to him. Jack was a life-long member of New Horizons Christian Church. He was involved in the building of the Church itself.  He served as Deacon, Elder, Trustee and was bestowed Elder Emeritus. He also was active in the music department and Choir.

Jack was also a very dedicated and active Freemason. He was a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, a member of Star Lodge #187 F. & A. M. and a Past Master of Tallmadge Lodge.  He was a Past District Deputy Grand Master for the 21st Masonic District of Ohio and a past Deputy's Representative for the Valley of Akron, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite where he had also served as Thrice Potent Master. He was a member of the Royal Order of Scotland and many other York Rite and appendant Masonic Bodies. Jack was proud to be a Master Mason for 53 years.

Jack was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was kind and generous and genuinely cared about the welfare of his fellow man. He chose to silently support many philanthropic efforts.  Those who knew him knew of his quick wit and great sense of humor.  He will be deeply missed by family and friends.

He was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling. He and his wife looked forward to their yearly trips to Naples, FL. the bi-annual US Army Air Corps Cadet reunions and many Masonic Conventions across the United States.  His favorite trips included a driving camping tour of the Western United Sates and an Alaskan cruise and land tour which were enjoyed with family and dear friends.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents G. Ben Gang and Dovie Dean Gang (Silvers), his son, Danny Gang and two brothers, Boyd and Don.

Jack is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty, daughter, Cathy (Tom) Woodruff of Akron; son Ken (Sherri) Gang of Brimfield; grandchildren, Amanda Jane (Jason) Linneweber of North Port FL, Jonathan (Kristen) Woodruff and Joseph  (Amanda Lynn) Woodruff all of Akron. Jack had 4 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and many good friends.

Visitation will be 2 until 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (on the Historic Tallmadge Circle).  Masonic services will start at 4:00 p.m.  The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

The Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, September 21, 2015 at New Horizons Christian Church, 290 Darrow Rd., Akron, with Pastor Jim Bane officiating.

Interment will be at Hillside Memorial Park.
