Jack E Thompson

November 4, 1931 — December 6, 2017

Jack E. Thompson died peacefully at his home in Stow, Ohio on December 6, 2017 surrounded by loved ones.

Born in Ravenna, Ohio on November 4, 1931, he served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War. He graduated with his accounting degree from Kent State University and went on to become a CPA, having his own accounting practice for many years. In later years he earned his Master's degree at the University of Akron and taught accounting there for many years.

Jack was an active member of North Hill Christian Church, serving as an elder for many years.  He was the leader of Boy Scout Troop 12 at the church and was so proud of the young men in the troop who forever remained in his heart. He enjoyed running competitively and was an avid cyclist in his younger years. He loved hiking and going to the Stow dog park with his many Labrador Retrievers over the years, especially Duke.   He loved all types of music and never ceased to marvel at nature and all of God's creatures.

He was overjoyed to become a grandfather in 1982 and great grandfather in 2003!  His favorite times were spent with his family flying kites, swimming, crabbing, and feeding seagulls on the boardwalk in Ocean City, MD. and in Cocoa Beach, FL.

Preceded in death by his parents, Edna and Austin Thompson; brother, Francis Thompson; sister, Elaine Summerfield, and great granddaughter Ava Grace Tucker; he is survived by the love of his life, devoted wife of 65 years Nora (Stanford) Thompson; daughters, Carissa (John) Burns and Karen (Brad) Kuhns; grandchildren Kate (Scott) Tucker, Kyle Klein, Mitchell Klein and Samuel Kuhns; great grandchildren Tyler, Abigail, Cameron, Jack and Landen.

The family will hold a private celebration of Jack's life in Cocoa Beach, FL. in January.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Linda Powlison, Sonya Mattingly, and Ellen Barber of AseraCare Hospice for their devotion, support, guidance, and caring over the last several months.
