Dr. James Thomas Noonan

January 24, 1934 — October 6, 2021

Tallmadge

Dr. James Thomas Noonan, 87, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2021 with his family by his side.

After a difficult struggle with Pulmonary Fibrosis, it's comforting to know he can now breathe freely in Heaven.

Jim went to St Martha's grade school.  He was a proud graduate of Campion Jesuit High School in Wisconsin.  He did his undergraduate studies at The Ohio State University and earned his doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University.

Jim was drafted into the U.S. Army and then began his private veterinary practice treating both large and small animals.  Shortly after beginning his practice, he pulled a car out of a ditch with a few young ladies in it and a year later married the driver, Barbara Queen.  They shared 59 ½ years together and enjoyed many friend gatherings, trips to Europe and around the US as Doc continued to practice Veterinary Medicine for 58 years retiring at 81.

Doc was a charmer.  Anyone who met him remarked how funny, sweet and personable he was.

Doc was heavily involved in charitable programs such as 4 H club, Anti Drug Abuse organizations including AHEAD, Boy Scout Explorer and Advisor, CYO of Summit County, CYO Adult Day Care and the Humane Society.  He was awarded the JC Penney Golden Rule Award for his humanitarian works. He was an honorary member of Knights of Columbus, earned a black belt in Chinese Martial Arts and loved boating, water skiing, swimming, beach vacations with his family and attending the Akron Symphony.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Dr. H.P. Noonan; sisters, Mary Noonan and Ann Haag; and brother, Dr. John Noonan.

Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Suzanne, Dan (Teresa) and Cindy Sondag (Greg); grandchildren, Derek, Christopher, Marisa (Dennis), Alexis (Chris), Rian, Nicholas, Peter, TJ, Kendra; great grandson, Cooper.
