James R. Salmond, Jr.

July 20, 1942 — April 17, 2015

"Well done good and faithful servant."

James Ramsey Salmond, Jr. passed away peacefully to his eternal home on April 17, 2015, following a courageous battle with brain cancer.  He was born and raised in Altoona, PA. to James and Viola Salmond.

He is survived by his adoring and loving wife of nearly twenty-five years, Judith Lynn, children, Mark Bowers (Lesley), Tia Powers (William), Elizabeth Ross (Scott), and Lissa Wolfe; grandchildren, Marissa and Will Bowers, Kate, Grant and Jack Powers, Aaron, Adam and Andrew Ross; sister-in-law, Deborah Fickes, brother, William Salmond and cousins in Knoxville, Tennessee and Altoona, Pennsylvania along with a host of dear friends.

Jim graduated from Altoona High School and Lock Haven University and then moved to Northeast Ohio where he made his home.  He was in sales with Kenwal Steel Company where he enjoyed his work and many of his customers were his good friends.

He was a member of First Congregational Church of Tallmadge, an Honorary Member of Fairlawn Country Club, a member and Past Master of Star Lodge #187 and many other Masonic organizations where he was a 33rd degree mason and a member of The Marco Men's Club.  He sat on many boards and enjoyed all of his duties.

Jim and Judy loved spending their winters at their home in beautiful Marco Island, Florida, with their family and friends.

Jim was one of the most amazing men in life.  He was truly a man of great faith, a leader, a teacher, and a role model for his family and had a gracious and generous heart.  He lived an extraordinary life and leaves behind a legacy one would only hope to achieve.

He was a very generous man with his time and a caring man who taught so many and gave so much to others.

The family would like to thank the caring staff of Rockynol, AGVN Hospice, Ms. Sarah Koch, Dr. Steve Radwaney and the many friends who shared this journey with us during Jim's greatest time of need.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests remembrances be made to the First Congregational Church of Tallmadge Robert Taylor Carillon Fund in memory of James R. Salmond at 85 Heritage Drive, Tallmadge, Ohio 44278 or Tadmor Temple Shrine Tri-County Transportation Unit, 3000 Krebs Drive, Akron, Ohio 44319.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at the First Congregational Church with Rev. Dr. John Schluep officiating.  Interment will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at 4 until 8 PM, Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Avenue (On the Historic Tallmadge Circle), where a Masonic Service will be held 7:30 PM.
