James R. Sisson

James R. Sisson, 81, born February 5, 1944 and passed away peacefully at home on July 30, 2025.

Jim was born in Akron and lived in the area his whole life.  He was an iron worker for Local #17 retiring in 2001 after 37 years of service. Jim was a member of the Suffield United Church of Christ.

Jim was the hardest worker. He loved being outside, camping, boating, building and fixing things around the house. He excelled many years in Tai Chi and was an avid motorcyclist. He was proud of the time he spent as President of the Field Athletic Booster Club. Most of all he loved his family. He adored his grandsons, telling them often "Papa loves you, uh-bum-bum-bum-bum."

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Clella Sisson; sisters, Fran Gulosh, Kitty Reedy; brothers, Buddy and Terrell.

Jim is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jerry; daughter, Brea (Mike) Crane of Hilliard; son, Butch (Jessie) Sisson of Mogadore; grandchildren, Chase and Keegan Crane, Brody and Dylan Sisson, extra special great niece Alyvia Severns; many nieces and nephews. Special thank you for all your support, to brother-in-law Big Jack Groetz, niece Connie Gulosh, and special friend Laura Speaks. Services will be held Thursday August 7th at Suffield United Church of Christ, 1115 OH-43, Mogadore. Visitation will be at 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Pastor Karin Wright will officiate a small service that will begin at 12:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life luncheon immediately following. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Suffield United Church of Christ or Mogadore Football Tradition Fund.
