Jeanne C. Marhofer

January 18, 1938 — June 17, 2015

AKRON – Jeanne Claire Marhofer (nee Knauz), 77, passed away peacefully in her home on June 17, 2015.  She was preceded in death by parents Olivia and Fredric W. Knauz; many wonderful aunts and uncles, especially Edna and Frank Englehart of Union, New Jersey; and many special friends.   She loved and cherished her family and friends and is survived by her three sons, Jack, Mike and Eric;  most beloved daughter-in-law, Linda; father of her children, John Marhofer; grandchildren, Michael, Sammy and Susan; and many wonderful and special friends that she considered her brothers and sisters, particularly Eleanor Lindway who worked tirelessly in the battle, Judy Amato, Bonnie Ayers, Ted Major, Martha Hayes, Eleanor Spikerman and her "Jersey Girls," Joan and Lindsey.

Born in Northeastern New Jersey, Jeanne graduated from Ridgewood High School in 1955 and then went to New York City when she was 17 to become a registered nurse and worked at Roosevelt Hospital for over six years.  She was somehow convinced to leave NYC and move to Stow, Ohio where she married and raised three children.  She enjoyed her time working at Papa Joe's and Fleming's and loved the many special friends she made while working at each place.  She was an avid reader, loved animals and the Jersey Shore, appreciated the beauty and excitement of her many years travelling the world, enjoyed fine foods and was a connoisseur of wines.  She was always impeccably dressed right down to her high heels - even wearing them in the hospital.  She was conversant in just about any topic that you wanted to talk to her about.  She made everyone that she met feel comfortable and loved.  She was very kind, thoughtful and witty…she will be missed.

She very much appreciated all of the support, cards, calls and prayers that she received during her illness.  She felt blessed to have so many wonderful and caring people in her life.  She also wanted to thank the entire Soldierson family for welcoming her and her family into their family through the years.

There will be a memorial Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Stow on Saturday, June 27th.  Family will greet friends after the service.  A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.  Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Lisa Craine Foundation (www.crainescancercure.org) or the World Wildlife Fund (www.worldwildlife.org).
