Cuyahoga Falls- John Ervin Carmichael passed away peacefully, with excellent care at Bath Creeks Estates, on December 11 at 95. Born in Bay City, Michigan, after serving in the Army during the Korean War, he graduated from Michigan State with a degree in chemistry.

John married Betty Mae Kaiser (deceased) and took a job at Dow Chemical. He was offered a job at General Tire in Akron and stayed there throughout his career as a paper coating researcher and developer. John has over 2000 patents to his name.  He was very active at St. John's Episcopal Church in Cuyahoga Falls.

He was proceeded in death by parents, Donald and Florence and 7 of 9 siblings.

John is survived by sister, Kathleen Rynalski; brother, James Carmichael; daughter, Deborah Carmichael Catrone; sons, Michael (Cheri) and Cris (Christine); several grandchildren, great- grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

John was a loving, giving, unselfish person who retired early to care for his sick wife. He was an avid golfer who played until his 90s, and loved sports, puzzles and reading. He had a dry wit that made him the hit of many parties.

Cremation has taken place.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on January 7 at 10 am at St. John's Episcopal Church followed by light refreshments. Handicapped valet parking will be available and there is an elevator.

In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to St. Johns Episcopal Church in Cuyahoga Falls.
