IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John A.
Diantonio
April 9, 1923 – May 1, 2020
John A. DiAntonio, 97, passed away on May 1, 2020. He was born April 9, 1923 in Akron, OH to the late John and Vandina DiAntonio.
John was in the U.S. Army for three years during WWII. He retired from the B.F. Goodrich Co. in 1985 after 39 years of service.
A profile of John written by Richard McBane was in the Akron Beacon Journal in 1995. It read as follows:
When he looks at himself, John DiAntonio sees a lot of his late father, also known as John. "He was a chronic workaholic, and he liked to help people, too," DiAntonio said. As for himself, DiAntonio calls working and helping others a compulsion. He had more than 30 years of perfect attendance at B.F. Goodrich until he was sidelined by an accident. Since his retirement, he has been out virtually every day with his lawnmower and weed whacker, cutting grass and trimming shrubs and trees in his North Hill neighborhood. Most of his neighbors are grateful for his kindness. "People have tried to pay me, but I don't want paid. I tell them, 'If you don't like the price, get someone else,"' DiAntonio joked. "When I see something that needs cleaned up, I usually get involved in it. I just like to make people happy. When I go to bed at night, I feel good about it."
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Ann; brother, Alfred; sisters, Rosa Tersigni and Gilda Fragola.
He is survived by his daughter, Patricia: sons, Ron and Dave (Danette); grandson, Rick (Oriana); as well as many other family and friends.
The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the staff at The Arbors of Stow for the excellent care given to John. On May 5, 2020 a Private Service was held at Hennessy Funeral Home followed by Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please say a prayer for John and do a good deed for a neighbor.
