John Menesian, 88, passed away September 11, 2017.
John was born in Akron, Ohio on October 8, 1928 to the late Nazareth and Takouhe Menesian. He was extremely proud of his Armenian heritage and his parents who emigrated here to make a better life for their family.
He graduated from Akron North High School and received his Bachelor Degrees from the University of Akron and Kent State University and his Masters Degree from Kent State University.
John was a World War II veteran serving in the Army of Occupation in Italy. He was also a veteran of the Korean Conflict. After working as an accountant in private industry, he began his service with the Akron Public Schools at Seiberling Elementary School. He was also a Junior High School counselor and finished his career of 30 years in Central Administration.
He truly loved the great outdoors, hiking, landscaping, and especially baseball and softball. He played on the University of Akron baseball team and was a Charter Member of the Akron Silver Softball League. John played his last game at the age of 75.
The family would like to thank the Summa Palliative Care area and the Kurt Kollar family for their wonderful care of John.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Robert, Jerry, and Danny.
John is survived by his wonderful, loving and caring wife, Joyce; sister, Elizabeth Campbell; step children, Susan (Michael), Jim (Kathy), and Mark (Kathleen); sister in law, Barbara Menesian, and many nieces and nephews, and step grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Goodyear Heights Presbyterian Church, 1430 Goodyear Blvd., Akron with Rev. Reford Nash officiating.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Interment will be at Rose Hill Burial Park.
