John Charles White III, 72, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, John was known for his humor and quick wit, and the way he could make a room brighter just by walking into it.
John found joy in life’s adventures, large and small. He loved traveling to Disney, where the magic never got old. A lifelong enthusiast of trains and cars. But nothing delighted him more than time with his grandkids—his favorite travel companions, co-conspirators, and the audience he loved to shower with stories, laughter, and funny sayings.
John worked as a salesman at PTE Drives for 30+ years. John’s great sense of humor was a hallmark of who he was. He was famous for his witty comebacks, well-timed one-liners, and a collection of phrases that his family will keep saying—and smiling about—for years to come.
John is proceeded in death by mother, Delta (Jim) Gorham; his father, John White Jr.; and mother-in-law, Emma Hodgman.
He is survived and missed by his loving wife, Kathy; daughter, Jenifer (Jeff) Lonzrick; grandchildren, Savannah, Logan and Luke; sister, Marsha (Lawrence) Bond. John also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew Parish, 2603 Benton Ave., Akron, OH.
Mass of Christian burial will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. with Father Mike Williamson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Matthew Parish.
John will be deeply missed and forever be cherished.
