Together Again – Joseph Calvin Wise, 98, passed away May 29, 2022.  He was born at home, May 20, 1924 to Anna and Dewey Wise, Sr.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 64 years, Delphine; sisters, Mary (Richard) Gras, Ida Mae (Fred) Pockrandt; and brother, Dewey (Shirley) Wise.

Joe is survived by his daughters, Shirley (Phil) Thatch, Judy (Skip) Reuscher; grandchildren, Ray Thatch, Mike (Debbie) Thatch, Debbie Webb, Curt (Erin) Reuscher, Craig (Chris) Reuscher, Kevin (McKencie) Reuscher; and great grandchildren, Parker and Myles Webb, Blake Thatch, Olivia and Evan Reuscher, Keegan and Caden Reuscher; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Joe was drafted at the age of 17 and served in the U.S. Army, 114th Infantry 44th Division during World War II in France and Germany landing at Cherbourg, France relieving the 82nd Airbourne.

He was assigned to Patton's Third Army and later to General Hodges of the First Army. Joe fought through the Battle of the Bulge, French Alps and Black Forest and was the first division to reach the Blue Danube River.

After war's end, the troops visited Paris, France and London, England before returning to the USA aboard the Queen Elizabeth.

He worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. for 46 years, retiring in 1988 as Dept. Mgr.in the Tech Center.

Joe and Del enjoyed gardening and traveling; visiting World Fairs in New York, Louisiana, Chicago, Seattle and Toronto, Canada. They would spend the spring vacation to the Masters Tournament, Daytona Beach and Disney World; fall vacations were spent in the Northern Eastern states.

Joe was an avid golfer, serving as a Marshall at Firestone Country Club. He participated in various tournaments, individually and as a team, winning many trophies.

Visitation will be 2:00 until 4:00 p.m., Sunday, June 5, 2022 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (On the Historic Tallmadge Circle).

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 6, 2022 at the funeral home with Rev. Thomas McCann officiating.

Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road #300, Jacksonville, FL., 32256.
