IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joyce Ann
(Azar) Simon
March 27, 1933 – June 10, 2025
March 27, 1933 – June 10, 2025
With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Joyce Ann Simon, who died peacefully on June 10, 2025, surrounded by her children and loved ones.
Born on March 27, 1933, in Akron, Ohio, Joyce was a woman who found joy in life's simplest pleasures and beauty in the everyday. She married the love of her life, John G. Simon Jr, and they shared 68 devoted years building a home filled with laughter, warmth, and unconditional love. Together, they raised five children who remained at the heart of her world throughout her life.
Joyce was an active member of the Cuyahoga Falls Garden Club and cherished her afternoons playing Bridge with dear friends. A faithful member of St. George Orthodox Church, she was involved in the Ladies Group and was especially known for her beautiful floral arrangements for the church's holiday extravaganza fundraiser. She treasured vacations in Siesta Key, Florida, where she walked the white-sand beaches with her children and grandchildren—creating cherished memories that will live on in their hearts.
Above all, Joyce was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her home was a haven where everyone was welcomed, well-fed, and deeply loved. She had a passion for cooking and entertaining, especially preparing traditional Lebanese dishes to share with family and friends. She often said, "It's all in the presentation," and her table was always a reflection of her thoughtfulness, care, and pride in bringing people together. Her Fatayer and hummus were legendary and made every gathering feel like a celebration. Her kind heart, generous spirit, and warm hospitality touched all who knew her.
Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John G. Simon Jr, and her brothers, Floyd (Libby) and Kenneth (Margie) Azar.
She is survived by her children: Diane (Scott) Brunke, Jackie (Rick) Stanley, Leslee (Gary) Salhany, John Simon III (Mary), and Paul Simon. She leaves behind a proud legacy through her 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends. She treasured all her loved ones, whether relatives or honorary family.
Joyce's legacy of love, family, faith, and food lives on in all who were fortunate to know her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 17th from 5-7:00 p.m. at St George Church located at 3204 Ridgewood Rd, Akron. Visitation will also be held from Wednesday 10-10:30 a.m., June 18th with the funeral service immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. George Church in memory of Joyce Simon.
