Judith Joyce (Doughty) Mclain

Judith Joyce (Doughty) McLain, 83, of Tallmadge passed away on February 2, 2025.

Judy Doughty was born July 11, 1941, in Zanesville, OH.

Judy graduated Zanesville High School in 1959. Then went on to attend Ohio University where she graduated in 1963 with a bachelor's degree in primary education.

Judy dated her husband, Dale McLain while at Ohio University. The two were married on June 20, 1964. Shortly after being married, they relocated to Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. They moved to Tallmadge in 1965 where she lived for 60 years.

Judy taught kindergarten at King School in Akron and substitute taught across the area for many years.

Judy loved sewing and quilting. She enjoyed watching the birds, squirrels and chipmunks in her backyard. She also had a passion for watching sports, especially the Buckeyes, the Browns and the Guardians. She was also known to cheer on her Alma Mater, the Ohio University Bobcats basketball team, hooting and hollering for them during March Madness games.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; her father, Wayne Doughty; and her mother, Mary Jane (Chaplin).

Judy is survived by her children, Mark (Kelly), Scott (Tricia); and three grandchildren, Kayla, Cameron and Leah.

Visitation will be 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (On the Historic Tallmadge Circle).

Interment will be at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
