Kathleen "Kathy" (Mcginnis) Stayanchi

With deep love and sadness, we share that Kathy Stayanchi passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025, at the age of 71 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Kathy lived a life full of faith, warmth, creativity, and laughter. She had a gift for making a house feel like home – whether through the smell of delicious cookies baking in the oven, the hum of her sewing machine as she created Halloween costumes or hemmed pants and the sound of the vacuum as part of her organized cleaning routine.

A devoted mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, Kathy will be remembered most for her generous spirit and sense of humor. She loved a good crossword puzzle with her siblings, a hearty laugh in church, and the joy of decorating and celebrating her favorite holidays. She enjoyed hosting sleepovers for her nieces and nephews and provided many memories of pancake breakfasts with syrup! Her strength, grace, and gentle heart will continue to inspire all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter, Maureen Lazor (Denise & Brooke); her son, Michael Stayanchi (Annie & Isabella); sisters, Maryann Birel and Beth McGinnis; friend, Mike Stayanchi; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Winnie McGinnis and her brother, Charlie McGinnis.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 342 S Chillicothe Rd., Aurora, OH 44202 at 11:00 am.

A celebration of life will immediately follow the funeral mass. The family is asking that you wear green, which is Kathy's favorite color or purple, the ribbon color for Alzheimer's disease.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Kathy's memory.
