Keith E. Johnson

Keith E. Johnson died February 8, 2023, at the age of 92.  Keith was born April 7, 1930, to Maurice and Ann Johnson of Genoa, Ohio.

He was active in Boy Scouts as a youth, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout with three palms.  He later served as scout master.  In high school he was selected for Buckeye Boys State and served as Speaker of the House.  Keith graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1953 with a degree in accounting.  He met his love of 70 years, Marilyn Heiser of North Olmsted, at Baldwin-Wallace College in 1952.  Keith served as 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955; he and Marilyn married in 1955. Keith became a CPA in 1961 and enjoyed a long and rewarding career as both an industrial and public accountant, serving clients in Stark, Portage and Summit Counties.  He was a member of the Ohio Society of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs.  He served as president of the Akron-Canton Chapter of the Ohio Society of CPAs, treasurer of the Vermillion Yacht Club, member of the Portage Area Regional Transit Authority board and the Ridgewood Condominium Association board.  Keith and his family lived in Canton until 1973 when they moved to Kent; then to Tallmadge in 2000.  He and Marilyn joined the Generations of Berea Senior Living Community in March of 2022.

Keith is survived by his wife Marilyn of 67 years; their son, David of Lakemore; daughter; Susan Van Vorst of Berea; grandchildren, Erin (Ryan) Bilski of North Olmsted and Marcus Carano of Columbus, along with great grandchildren Austin, Olivia and Evelyn.  His sister, Carolyn Houk and his brother, Reid preceded him in death.

Visitation will be Saturday February 25, 2023 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Tallmadge, 85 Heritage Dr. Tallmadge, Ohio

A celebration of life will follow at the church at 11 a.m. with Rev. Daniel Doty officiating.

Interment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery
