Larry Brinkley, 88, passed away June 7, 2025. Larry was raised in Sawyerwood and grew up an avid fisherman spending wonderful years at Springfield Lake.
He lived in Cuyahoga Falls for over 60 years in the same house he shared with his wife, Marianne, who passed in 2010.
In high school, Larry was offered 24 scholarships for basketball, serviced with the Air Force National Guard, then later drafted by the Cleveland Indians in 1956, before tearing his rotator cuff. Larry went on to retire from B.F. Goodrich after over 30 years
Larry continued to play baseball on many local teams and was named to the All-Star Team, 3 consecutive years and was inducted to the Greater Akron Baseball Hall of Fame in 1988.
His accomplishments didn't end there. Larry was also an avid golfer, and was a 5 time Club Champion at both Fox Den and Mogadore Country Club. He went on to play in the senior PGA Tour in 1988, playing with (and many times beating) people such as lack Nicholas, Gary Player and Chi Chi Rodrigez.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marianne; son, Bobby; father, R. (Brink) and his mother, Gladys.
Larry is survived by his cousins, Gloria Smith and Kandi Gentile and her husband, Bob; his wonderful friend, Sherry Wilkerson; caregiver, Beth B.; and many wonderful friends.
A memorial service will be 4:00 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2025 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (On the Historic Tallmadge Circle).
