Leo J. Petri, 87, passed away peacefully in his home in Green on December 31, 2016.

Surving is his loving wife of 27 years, Sarah, and an extended family that includes Judith (Gary) Milan; Brandt, Jeffrey and Michael (Kathi) Petri; three step-sons and wives; nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Leo is preceeded in death by his parents, Gildo and Anna (Iorio) Petri; daughter, Teresa Colando; granddaughter, Kara Petri; brother, Ozzie Petri. His primary focus in life was his dedication to his family.

Leo was born in Akron, Ohio on December 18, 1929, and graduated from North High School in 1947. He retired as a labor negotiator for the United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners of America in Washington, DC in 1991. He extensively traveled the United States and Canada throughout his career. Upon retirement, Leo enjoyed boating on Lake Erie and actively participating as a member and President (2004) of the Italian American Professional and Businessmen's Club from 1996 - 2006. As an avid golfer, he recently golfed in two leagues with life long friends. Additionally, he faithfully served on various committees for Prestwick Landowners' Association for two decades. Leo will be remembered by many friends who witnessed his generosity, charming personality, political debates and "colorful" golf tales.

Arrangements for cremation were entrusted to the Hennessy Funeral Home in Akron, Ohio. A Memorial Mass will be held at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Green, OH on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 10:30 am. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101.
