Lillian Fay Brickley (Ek), age 96, went home to be with her Lord, after passing away at home on December 3, 2020, surrounded by her children.
Lillian had a vibrant personality which would light up a room. She was a loving gift to her family, friends, as well as strangers. If someone's hands were cold she would sew them hand warmers. If someone's spirit needed lifted, she would bake them a rhubarb or apple pie. Lillian was the ultimate hostess from a casual get-together to Holiday feasts.
Lillian was born on October 20, 1924, in Akron, Ohio to the late Axel and Hulda Ek. She was the 4th of nine children.
Lillian graduated from South High School in 1942 where she met her high school sweetheart, Robert "Bob" Brickley and where she was crowned Homecoming Queen. Lillian married Bob Brickley, on June 23, 1945, after he returned from WWII. Twelve years would pass until they welcomed their daughter, Mia, then daughter Joni and then son Robert. They spent years raising their children in a loving home, full of exciting experiences. She and her family enjoyed riding horses in Medina, boating around Key Biscayne in Miami, and golfing, boating and on the beaches of Fort Myers.
Lillian was employed at BF Goodrich as Executive Secretary to the Technical Superintendent. While at BF Goodrich, Lillian was selected to represent the company by modeling as a "Pin-Up Girl" during WWII for many of their products. She worked at Goodyear Aircraft as secretary to the 8 chemical engineers who were brought over from Germany to design and build blimps. She worked as head of volunteers at South Miami Hospital. She worked as a realtor in and around the Tallmadge area. Lillian was a life-long blood donor recognized as a 2-gallon donor.
Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Brickley; parents, Axel and Hulda Ek, and all siblings: Herbert, Edith, Vera, Billy, Agnes, Roy, Axel Bernard Jr., and Josephine.
Lillian is survived by her three children, Mia (Roland) Alderete, Joni (Douglas) Wilcox, Robert (Becky) Brickley, and grandchildren: Ashley Wilcox and Aja, Jon and Kyle Alderete; and also grand-puppies.
