Obituary

Louis Thomas Calvaruso, 81, passed away January 1, 2019.
Born in Akron where he lived all of his life. He served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1966. Louie worked for F.W. Albrecht Grocery Company (Acme) from 1956 until his retirement in 1999. He worked for nine years as a Retail Clerk and then was a Journeyman Meat Cutter for 35 years. Louie was a proud member of Retail Clerks Local 698 and The Amalgamated Meat Cutters and Butcher Workmen of North America, District Union Local 427. He was preceded in death by his parents, Giuseppi and Caterina Calvaruso; brothers, Dominic (Phyllis), Joseph (Eileen) and Frank. Louie is survived by his wife of 53 years, Rose (Falkenstein); son, Michael; daughter, Angela (Eric) Howell; grandchildren, Anthony and Catherine Calvaruso, Owen, Julia, Isabelle and Justin Howell. He was their loving Nonno. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Sebastian Church, 476 Mull Ave. Akron. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Hennessy Funeral Home (corner of York and Main) 552 N. Main St. Akron.
