Louise Wasson

Louise Wasson, 89, passed away June 12, 2017.  Louise was born December 29, 1927, in Cains Store, Kentucky, to parents Jacob and Lola Garner.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Glenn; daughter, Donna, great granddaughter, Alyssa; sister, Peggy Patterson; and brother, Jacob and Howard Garner.

She is survived by her children, Cheryl (Dennis) Calaway, Kenneth (Melanie) Wasson, and John (Jeanne) Wasson; brother Roy (Jo) Garner; son in law, Dan (Lori) Krstich; sisters in law, Ginette Wasson, Phyllis Hanks, Betty Garner, Bernice Garner; ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, special church friends, and her best friend, Frieda Stickle, with whom she made several trips over the years back to Kentucky.

Louise was a devout Christian woman, always reading the Bible and other Christian literature.  She attended Gospel Crusaders Church of Akron for almost 70 years, where she taught a Ladies' Sunday School Class over 30 years and held many positions within the church; including heading up funeral dinners, making fruit baskets at Christmas for the church shut ins, and housing church missionaries when they came to town.  Louise loved to farm and she and Glenn grew their own vegetables.  Together they lived on ten acres in Brimfield where they had huge crops each year and were well known throughout the community for selling the vegetables over the summer and their hard work.

The family is so grateful to AGMC in home Hospice Staff and especially Louise's aide, Jen, who cared for her so lovingly over these many months.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 15, 2017 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (On the Historic Tallmadge Circle) with the Funeral Service to follow at 12 noon with Pastor Richard Woodin and Pastor John Beers conducting the service.

Interment will be at Restland Cemetery in Brimfield.

Louise was greatly loved by her family and we will miss her presence with us.  Louise dearly loved her church, and for those who wish, memorials may be sent to Gospel Crusaders Church 2240 Goodyear Blvd., Akron, OH 44305.
