My beautiful mother, Lucille Mae Evans, age 86, of Tallmadge, passed away at Danbury Assistant Living/Memory Care on March 22, 2025. She was born April 2, 1938, in Akron, Ohio to Ralph and Fernette Snyder. She was a graduate of Garfield High School. Lucille worked at the East Ohio Gas Co for many years. She married her second husband, Ray Evans, on May 31, 1987, which created a blended family. Shortly after she retired, they moved to Florida where they enjoyed many years together. They loved cruising the wide-open seas which was reflective in the 30 plus cruises they went on.
Lucille also enjoyed hours of shopping at the malls, sewing, cross stitching, musicals, and reading war novels. She enjoyed many summer vacations going to Disney World with her family. We will miss her smile and laughter and fun-loving nature when she was with her four siblings and their spouses.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Evans, who passed in December 2024; son, Raymond Houle; brother, Richard Snyder; and stepson, Kirk Evans who passed in July 2024.
Lucille is survived by daughter, Cheryl (Jack) Schafer; stepdaughters, Lynn (Dave) Dunn, and Debbie (Eddie) Smith; sisters, Eleanor (Phil) Kimball, Margie Clubbs; and brother, Robert (Karen) Snyder; grandchildren, Ryan Schafer, Todd (Brynne) Schafer, Melissa (Nick) Burss, Shaun Houle, Christina Houle, Cory (Gulayse) Dunn, Jamie (Kelly) Dunn, Eddie Smith, and Christian DeAngelis; nieces, Anne (David) Hewitt, Lynn (David) Wiener, Ellen (Eric) Blake, Elizabeth (Dan) Popovich, Patricia (Mitch) Dalton, Margie (David) Uncapher, Susan (Josh) Long, Ritchie (Michelle)Snyder, Aimee (Dwayne) Dodd; great grandchildren, Camden, Logan, Lochlyn, and Crew Schafer; and many more great grandchildren and great nieces and nephews all loved, but too many to name.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Danbury Assistant Living who lovingly called her "Lucy" and Corso Hospice for their care the past several months.
