Marian D (Popiel) Caruso

Marian D. Caruso, 97, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on January 27, 2016 at the Gardens of Western Reserve.

Born in Portland, Oregon February 18, 1918 to the late Mary and Michael Popiel. Her family moved to Ohio when she was a child.

Marian and her husband, Charles Caruso lived in Cuyahoga Falls most of their life. She worked at Polsky, The May Co. in Cleveland and Goodrich during World War II. Marian attended North High School and Hammel Actual College. She also attended Akron University and the Cuyahoga Falls School of Nursing, graduating in 1974 at the age of 56 and was president of her class. Marian worked as a nurse at St. Thomas until her retirement. Marian was a charter member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Cuyahoga Falls

She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Charles Caruso; daughter, Judith Ann Walker; parents, Mary and Michael Popiel; sister, Victoria Kareski; brothers, Joseph, John, and Frank Popiel.

Marian is survived by grandchildren, Craig, Kevin and Ann Marie; great grandchildren, Izaak and Simon; son in law, Bill Walker; and sisters in law, Paulyne Popiel, Helen Popiel; and many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1905 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls with Rev. Thomas McCann officiating. There will be visitation at the church one hour prior of the mass.

Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
