Martha M. St. John

Martha A. St. John (Tinsley), 84, went home to be with the Lord on January 31, 2021. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family.

Martha was a lifelong resident of the Akron area, was a member of The Chapel for over 40 years and loved to sing in the choir. She graduated from East High School and received bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Akron. She retired from Green Local Schools after 33 years of teaching.

Martha enjoyed traveling, water skiing and snow skiing. She was a dedicated wife, mother and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, M.O. Tinsley and mother, Mary Tinsley.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, David; daughter, Jill; sons, Scott (Ann), and Eric (Anne); and grandchildren, Benjamin (Elycia), Molly, Corinne, Ryan, Matthew and Kelly. She is also survived by her brother, Dean (Carolyne) Tinsley.

The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. Susan Tucker and to Colleen Bunn and Chris Nowak from Adoration Hospice for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Martha's name to Camp Carl in care of The Chapel or to the Haven of Rest.

Visitation will begin one hour prior to the 1:00 PM service on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at the Donovan Funeral Home,17 Southwest Avenue, Tallmadge (On the Historic Tallmadge Circle).

Burial immediately following at Hillside Cemetery.
