Mary Lee Cromley, 87, was called to heaven July 6, 2024, after a lengthy illness. She was born November 13, 1936, in Grantsville, West Virginia, to Cecil and Edith Burrows, the eldest of five children. She moved with her family to Akron, Ohio during World War II, as her dad was employed building tires. All of her siblings called her Sissy, because she was like a little mother hen.
She married Wesley Douglas Cromley, her high school sweetheart, on January 9, 1955. They enjoyed 66 wonderful years of marriage and raised four daughters. She was a remarkable seamstress who could and did sew suits, and even wedding dresses. Also, she and Wesley both sewed quilts together and had a prayer quilt ministry. Wesley passed away on September 18, 2021, and now they a gloriously united again in heaven. Mary Lee and Wesley were both saved and gave their life to the Lord. They taught Sunday school for 55 years at the Akron Baptist Temple, picked up kids for church, leading them in worship, teaching Vacation Bible School, and worked for Good News Club for the children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and two brothers, Cecil and Donald.
Mary Lee is survived by her sisters, Nina Gault (Mogadore), Donna White (Barberton); loving daughters, Pam (Scott) Buck of Kent, Joan (Russell) Reneau of Amarillo, TX, Vicki Cromley of Lakewood, and Jill (Greg) Fortson of Abilene, TX; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Private graveside services were held at Mt. Peace Cemetery in Hartville on July 9.
