Mary "Susie" Moneypenny, 80, passed away September 12, 2025. She was born in Akron and lived most of her life in the Mogadore area.
She was a teacher in the Akron Public Schools retiring in 2006 after 30 years of teaching at Innes Junior High and then East High School. She lived her life on her own terms, never letting anything hold her back. She was a beautiful seamstress, and enjoyed quilting, counted cross stitch, knitting and crocheting, and embroidery. She was particularly proud to have built two homes, highly participating in the construction herself. No task intimidated her, there wasn't a tool she couldn't learn to use.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Osborn and Irene Dixie McCracken; sister, Sandra Kay Hoard; brother, Edward McCracken.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Tana Moneypenny; son, John Scott (Robin) Moneypenny; granddaughters, Kimberly "Shelly" (Scott) Liggett, and Emily Moneypenny; step granddaughter, Samantha Znaniecki; great granddaughter, Emeline Liggett; brothers, Steve "Tom" (Linda) McCracken, Earl (Natalie) McCracken, brother-in-law, Mike (Barb) Moneypenny; step daughter, Lisa (Steve) Loomis; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Not to mention her two beloved Shih Tzu dogs, Bingo and Rolly.
Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Friday, September 19, 2025 at Donovan Funeral Home, 34 S. Cleveland Ave, Mogadore.
Funeral service will be 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Fr. Mike Williamson officiating.
Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Akron.
