Mary "Kathy" Kathleen (Burke) White

Mary Kathleen "Kathy" Burke White passed away unexpectedly on August 26, 2021.

She was born on December 29, 1944 to Donald and Eileen Burke in Fostoria, Ohio.

Kathy grew up in Fostoria, graduating from St. Wendelin High School.  She lived in St. Mary's, while working at Koch's Restaurant and attending the Ohio Northern University branch in Celina. She then began her teaching career at Holy Rosary School. Kathy moved to Cuyahoga Falls in 1966 where she taught at IHM School and began a family.  IHM School was always important to her, and she stayed involved over the years through substitute teaching, tutoring and enrichment programs, along with fundraising.  Kathy also became involved in Tupperware home sales and later taught preschool at the Riverfront YMCA.  Catholic Education was always important to her, and she was happy to be appointed to the Cleveland Diocesan Board of Education where she volunteered her time.

In 1993 she moved to Cape Cod, MA where she taught at Trinity Christian School.  Being proud of her Irish heritage, when presented with the opportunity, she purchased and ran an Irish import store, The Song of Ireland in South Chatham, MA where she finished her working career.

She later returned to Ohio, living in Stow.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Erwin Martz; brother, Thomas Burke; and nephew Brian Burke.

She is survived by her children, Malissa (Don) Burke of Stow, Don (Tina) White of Stow, Sean White of Cuyahoga Falls; grandchildren, Jonathan and Erin Burke, Emma, Patrick and Maria White.  She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be 4 until 7 p.m. Thursday, September 2, 2021 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (On the Historic Tallmadge Circle).

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Friday September 3, 2021 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1905 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls with Father Thomas McCann officiating.

Interment will be at Gethsemane Cemetery in St. Mary's Ohio on Friday, September 3. We ask friends and family from the area to join us for a graveside prayer service beginning at 3:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Father McIntyre Education Fund at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish.
