Mary Janet Lee

February 25, 1934 — September 3, 2015

Mary Janet Lee, age 81 of Tallmadge, died September 3, 2015 after a four-year hard fought battle with ovarian cancer.

She was born in Akron on February 25, 1934 to the late Ralph and Chloe Farley.

She was preceded in death by her siblings Jack, Lois, and twin Martha Joann.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Carroll Anderson Lee; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa Ann (David) Schauer and Rebecca Joann (Michael) Testa.  Also survived by three grandchildren, Nicole (Seth), Gian (Kaitlin) and Carlo (Angela), a great-granddaughter, Olivia, and faithful friends Sarah Bennett and Shirley Kuta.

A 1951 honors graduate of Central High School, Janet went on to work for Firestone Tire and Rubber Company as an executive secretary and print model for nine years. She also worked part-time at JC Penney after her daughters were in school.  Janet loved working in her yard, hunting for antiques at flea markets and yard sales, holiday decorating, weekly visits to the Tallmadge Library, writing letters, and attending Tallmadge sporting events. She was a snowbird on Hilton Head Island with Carroll for twenty-two years.   Janet was carried into the Thayer Street Church of Christ as an infant and was a loyal life-long member.  She loved to sing a cappella hymns with her brothers and sisters in Christ.

Keeping with her wishes, there will be no calling hours or service.  Interment will take place in Tallmadge Cemetery at a future date. When asked what gave her the most joy in life, her response was the gift of sight.  In memory of Janet, and at her request, memorial contributions may be made to Guide Dog Foundation at guidedog.org.
