Michael Ernest Scherer

Michael Ernest Scherer, 67, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, July 4, 2022.

Born in Ravenna, Ohio, Michael lived in the Tallmadge area most all his life.  He was in the roofing and construction business for over 45 years. He was an avid farmer, occasional fisherman, entrepreneur and expert gardener. He liked to travel, hike, and most of all spend time with his family and grandchildren. His acres of corn, thousands of tomatoes, and many variations of salsa were famous. Anyone who knew Mike, knew that he was beyond generous, optimistic and very kindhearted because of his love, commitment and close relationship with Jesus. He consistently and lovingly pointed people to the hope and eternal worth that comes from Christ alone.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Gertrude Scherer and brother, Ted.

Michael is survived by his wife, Cynthia "Cindy"; daughters, Rachael (Craig) Waller, Leah Hill, Esther (Jason) Gergon, Naomi (Luke) Trowbridge, Hannah (Sicong) Scherer; Elizabeth Scherer and Lydia Scherer; son, Michael (Holly) Scherer; grandchildren, Joshua, Isaac, Grace, Hope, Olivia, Maximus, Ruth, Selah, Carson, Lindsey, Makenzie; sisters, Kathy, Lavinia, Wendy; brothers, Robert, John, and James; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be 12 until 2:30 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2022 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. in Tallmadge (right off the Historic Tallmadge Circle).

Funeral Service to follow at 2:30 at the funeral home with Pastor James Gergon officiating.
