Mildred "Mimi" "Cassie" Van Newkirk

Mildred A. "Mimi" "Cassie" VanNewkirk, 92, passed away March 26, 2016.

Born in Akron, Mildred had lived in the Akron area all her life. She graduated in 1941 from North High School and retired in 1985 from Goodrich with 43 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her; husband Frank E. "Van"; parents, William and Anna Stanger; sister, Dori; and brother, Bill, Jr.

Mildred is survived by her son, Skip (Klea) Van Newkirk of Akron; grandchildren, Shannon (Chris) Anna, and Sara; great grandson, Logan; sisters, Lou Wells of Tallmadge and Florence Nutter of Stow; and many wonderful nieces and nephews, and two angels.

A special thank you to Hospice of Crossroad for their care and to Lou Wells,  Klea VanNewkirk, and Susan Hartz.

Visitation will be 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at the DONOVAN BAGNOLI FUNERAL HOME, 339 Southwest Ave., Tallmadge.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Blessed Trinity Parish (St. Martha Church), 300 E. Tallmadge Ave., Akron with Father Joe Warner officiating. PROCESSION TO FORM AT THE CHURCH.

Interment will be at Stow Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Blessed Trinity Parish Memorial Fund.
