Milton E. Christner

June 24, 1920 — August 21, 2015

Milt was called home by his Lord on August 21, 2015 at 95 years of age.

Born in Akron, he lived 70 years in Cuyahoga Falls and the last eight years in Kentucky.  He graduated from Buchtel High School and the University of Akron.  At the University, he played four years of varsity football and also played in the initial game at the opening of the Rubber Bowl in 1940.

Employment began at the B.F. Goodrich Company.  During World War II, he served in the Army Air Force as a control tower operator on the island of Trinidad.  Following his military service, he rejoined B.F. Goodrich where he served primarily in HR.  He managed various Development programs.  He retired from the Goodrich Company after 35 years of service.  Following this retirement, e worked as the church administrator at the Stow Alliance Fellowship Church for seven years.

Milt married Lois I. Witsaman while in college, and embarked on a marriage that lasted 74 years.  In 1960, he accepted Christ as his savior through a home Bible study.  He and his wife were members of the Stow Alliance Fellowship Church where he served in various capacities such as elder and Governing Board member.  He was one of four men who organized the Stow Home Bible Study Ministry.  Over the years this ministry taught over 150 seminars, had a teaching staff of over 20 and has over 6,000 alumni around the world.

The Christners have three sons, Rev. Craig D. Christner (Lynda a Brethern pastor who served as Superintendent of Akron Christian School for many years, Rev. David A. Christner (Janice) a C&MA pastor for 25 years and a professional clinical counselor for family and youth in Lexington, Kentucky, and Mark S. Christner (Jody) a computer technician based in Delaware, Ohio.  The Christners have 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Stow Alliance Fellowship Church. 4460 Stow Rd., Stow with Rev. John Kitchen and Rev. John Cervone officiating.

Visitation will be 1 until 3 p.m. on Thursday prior to the funeral service at the church.

Interment will be held at Northlawn Memorial Gardens.
