Monica Dalton, age 63, went to heaven in the arms of Jesus on April 23, 2024, following emergency surgery. A courageous warrior, she faced life's challenges with unwavering strength and determination. Monica's resilience inspired all who knew her, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to cross her path. Her legacy of bravery and perseverance will be cherished by her loved ones forevermore.
Monica was born April 5, 1961 to Jerome (Jerry) Sr & Caroline Dalton on North Hill, Akron, OH. She was a 1979 graduate of North High School, Akron. With the guidance of her teacher, Mr Elias Karam she started working at age 16 at Acme-Click in Cuyahoga Falls as a Snack Bar attendant. She soon became a clerk & eventually the Manager of the Jewelry/Appliance Department. When that store closed, she transferred to Acme Supermarket in Cuyahoga Falls working as a Pharmacy Technician. Monica worked for Albrecht, owner of Acme for 20 years. Afterward she worked at Allstate Risk Management Business Center, The Akron Beacon Journal & The Akron Public Schools Auxiliary Services. She also cleaned houses and dog sat for family friends. Monica had many close friends who she kept in contact with over the years. The telephone was her favorite invention and she held phone marathons regularly! If you know, you know! Her favorite food was potatoes especially french fries with ketchup! She liked anything with dragonflies on it and loved windchimes. Monica enjoyed gardening, decorating for the holidays and one of her favorite shows was 'The Walking Dead'. In 1999 she moved in with her parents to help them out & eventually became their primary caregiver. She was a single mom who provided for her only child, Vincent. He was her pride & joy! Monica worked six days a week for many years to make ends meet! In January of 2017 her world came crashing down with the unexpected death of her son. But she kept on persevering. For the last four years she battled Hodgkin's Lymphoma but it was a sudden case of sepsis which she succumbed to from being so weak from chemotherapy.
Besides her son, Vincent Lauro and her parents she was preceded in death by grandparents, Paul J & Helen Dalton, Antonio & Maria Ciavarella; aunts, uncles, several cousins and friends.
Monica is survived by sister, Mary Dalton; brother, Jerry Dalton, Jr.; her beloved furry child, Gracie; numerous cousins & countless friends.
