Obituary

Nancy Payne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She left this world due to COVID-19 complications on Monday, February 15th.

Born April 12th, 1931 as Nancy Lee Chambers in Pitcairn, PA, Nancy was the youngest of four sisters. She attended Pitcairn High School, worked at Westinghouse Airbrake, and married the love of her life, Peter Payne, in 1955. After raising two beautiful children, April and Peter Jr., Nancy worked with Pete at Rollier Brothers for years. After retiring, the two continued their lifelong adventure by embarking on a cross country road trip together. Their lives were filled with love, family, and friends when Pete passed away in 2007.

Nancy spent the rest of her years with her daughter April, and grandchildren Patrick and Shannon Stewart. She was incredibly excited to meet not one, but two great grandchildren, Patrick John and Alex Joy. She is also survived by grandchildren Layla and Kaylyn Payne. Her family is comforted to know that she is reunited with her great love Peter, and her first great-grandchild, Joseph Peter.

After private services (shared via Zoom), at Hennessy Funeral Home, 552 North Main Street, Akron, OH 44310. Nancy will be laid to rest on March 6th, alongside her husband in Grandview Cemetery, Salem, OH.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made in Nancy's memory to the American Cancer Society or the Senator John Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh, PA.
