Nancy (Scafiti) Vaccaro

Nancy (Scafiti) Vaccaro, 93, of Akron passed away on Nov. 24, 2017.  Nancy was born and raised in Akron and graduated from West High School.  She was a life-long member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Akron.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Frank Sr. in 2003, her parents, Nunziata and Biagio Scafiti, her loving sisters, Anna Perry, Vivian Lanza, Sonti Basone, and Josephine Rogers, Nancy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and homemaker.  She will be sadly missed by her sons, Frank Jr. of Akron & Mark (Brenda), and three beautiful granddaughters, Gia, Nina, and Marisa, of Green, who were the "Love of Her Life".   Nana was an outstanding cook, baker, and seamstress.  She loved knitting, crocheting and making various crafts as well as baking delicious treats passed on from her mother and sisters.  Her hobbies included bingo, bowling, polka dancing, listening to Italian music, and playing Canasta.  She was very proud and appreciative of her always supportive and compassionate Scafiti family.

"Mothers hold their children's hand for a short while, but their hearts forever".  Thank you for being a woman of faith and for your endless sacrifices and constant prayers on our behalf.

Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, Nov. 29th at 9:30 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 83 Mosser Place, Akron.  Calling hours will be Tuesday, Nov. 28th from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hennessy Funeral Home (corner of York and Main), 552 N. Main St, Akron.
