Nellie Strauch, 93, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2014 surrounded by her family.

She was born in Akron where she lived all of her life. She was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Melkite Church. Nellie was an inspiration to all and was very devoted to her family. She was very much loved and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Strauch; beloved daughter, Donna Jean Gerbetz; parents, Sam and Deebe George; brothers, Philip and Fred George; sisters, Jenny Radabaugh and Julia Farah. Nellie is survived by her grandchildren, Krista (Mark) Weiner, Deanna "Punky" Gerbetz and Jon (Katie) Gerbetz; great-grandchildren, Anais and Avery Gerbetz; sister, Freda (Sidney) Corbin; many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of her life will be held at 12 noon Saturday at Hennessy Funeral Home (corner of York and Main), 552 N. Main St., Akron, with Father Eugene Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 9 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home on Saturday.
