Nick (Nicolo) Starvaggi, 88, died April 6, 2014 after battling cancer for many years.  He joins his wife, Angie of 58 years.  Nick was born May 4, 1925 to Antonio and Vincenza Starvaggi Cucuzza in Akron, Ohio.  At the age of 5, his family returned to Gioiosa Marea, Sicily where he lived until 1946 when he returned to Akron.  While in Sicily, he learned the trade of barbering at the age of 11 and continued until he was 81.  In addition to barbering, Nick succeeded in real estate, catering, and grocery store ventures. Family was the most important thing in Nick's life.  His conversations were full of kindness and wisdom that was relevant to all generations.  Nick is survived by his children, Vancy (Stuart) Boyar, Anthony (Melissa) Starvaggi, Patrick (Mary) Starvaggi, John (Renee) Starvaggi.  He is also survived by his grandchildren Nicholas (Clarissa), Dana, David (Krista), Jeffrey, Patrick (Haley), Natalie, Philip, Dominic, Rachel, and Max, along with numerous nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Robin, Nick and Angie's home health aide and friend of 7 years.  Additional thanks go to the compassionate and kind staff of Hospice of Summa, particularly the nursing staff of the Palliative Care Unit. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nick's name may be made to the Summa Health Systems Palliative Care Unit, 525 E. Market St., Akron. Family and friends will be received from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday April 11, at Hennessy Funeral Home (corner of York and Main) 552 N. Main Street, Akron.  Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday April 12, at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 83 Mosser Place, Akron.  Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 100 E. Waterloo Road.
